#1 - Ops are very free to be their own judge of character and to act upon a whim. That being said:
#2 - Stupidity is a banning offense.
#3 - For displays of oversensitivity, see previous rule.
#4 - Any use of the word "ecclectic" in a philosophical description will result in an immediate kick to the groin. (If female, then a razor wire enema).
#5 - Swearing, ethnic/gender/national slurs, sexual commentary, and random acts of silliness are all acceptible, unless interupting an actual conversation.
#6 - Channel and website advertisements are acceptible until they become annoying, with the exception of porn bots (see latter half of rule #4).
#7 - Gratuitous use of acronyms such as "lol," or other such annoying habits will result in the methods described in rule #4, this time with a spicy mustard sauce.
#8 - Violent and/or annoying outbursts will end at the expense of the instigator. You will also get no soup.
#9 - Any further conflicts or questions, refer to rules #1 and #2.
Admin Commentary
I try to keep my rules as lenient as possible. I find that too many rules only inhibits conversation and what one can gain from conversation. Of course, there will be talk of sex, drugs, and rock and roll. But, seriously, do you expect to get a large number of people of any age over thirteen together for an extended period of time and not expect the conversation to drift into one of those three? As you can see, most of the rules are based upon annoiances. That is exactly the point. IRC is intended to be an open forum. As long as you do not disrupt things too severely (this does NOT include radical ideas), then you may feel free to come, go, debate, and express yourself as you like.
How Do I Get There?
First you will need to get an irc client. I have several linked to below. After that you will need to get to dalnet. Most clients come with server lists and can easily connect at from a list. If not, then go to http://www.dal.net/ to find a list of servers OR a java client. The java client may be better if you are not so inclined with computers or are reading this from a cyber cafe. I definitely suggest IRC for primary discussions. It is real time, so it is just like arguing with other people sitting across the table, but in the comfort of your own home (or cyber cafe, in which case, you probably can't smoke... sucks to be you).
